There are far too many mountain hiking opportunities in the area to cover in this FAQ. However, based on our personal experience we offer the following suggestions:

Hadley Mountain is close to the house and offers a vigorous and exhilarating climb. There is a fire tower on top of the 2653 foot summit with a commanding view of the area. This 2.6 mile round trip hike has an elevation gain of nearly 1500 feet. The effort is WELL worth it.
A more modest hike, and "the best 'bang' for your buck (energy invested in the climb) is The Pinnacle in Bolton Landing on Lake George. It is a (roughly) 45 minute hike each way with fabulous views of the lake from the top.
The Edinburg Town Hall Nature and Fitness Trail is a one mile loop with some stations suggesting physical fitness activities, and some posters offering insight to local flora and fauna.
The famous Northville-Placid Trail (NPT) begins in Northville (15 min from the house)and runs 133 miles through the Adirondack Park. It is the first trail that the Adirondack Mountain Club developed. See their site for sections of the trail that can be done easily in day trips.
Saratoga County park is about a mile or so North of the house - which also fronts on the lake, and has some nice hiking trails.

A very nice, modest white water rafting experience can be had on the Sacandaga River flowing down from Stewart Pond Dam to the Hudson River. Our friend "Chandler" owns "The Elms" cottages (1 Bay Rd, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 Phone: (518) 696-3072). He rents equipment and coordinates these trips (Tell him "Stu" sent you). There are others in Hadley and Luzerne that do the same.
A much more extensive white water experience can be had on the Hudson in the Indian Lake to Stony Creek area. See links below for more information:

Beaches
- Waterfront Park in Northville- is a lovely spot right on the water. As of this writing there is not an "official" swimming beach, but you might want to ask some of the locals about beaches in the area.
- Northampton Beach is about a 20 minute drive from the house, as is Mayfield Town Beach
- Wayside Beach is about a 25 minute drive from the house, as is Pavillion Park. Both are lovely spots.

Is there a fire-pit? Yes - on the lower terrace, back yard.

Do you provide water-craft? Yes - locations: (should be left locked):

Three kayaks in the storage area at the rear of the house
One (large) canoe in the storage area, South side of the house, inside overhead door
Keys are in the kitchen - drawer above the wine cooler

About how far to the water’s edge? Our property is "lake-front", meaning it borders the lake directly (no road to cross).

What is the lake access? From the landing in the backyard, steps descent to a "gangway' connected to the floating dock. Ladders provide easy access to the lake.

Can I moor my boat? Yes, BUT - we do not have estimates for how much stress the dock can withstand, or know the weather conditions on the lake - therefore we assume no liability for the damage or loss of watercraft moored to the dock. While we don’t discourage this practice, we do advise GUESTS to be prudent about its use, and aware that conditions on the lake can change rapidly.

There is a boat launch approximately 2 miles North of the house at lovely Saratoga County Park.

How many cars can be accommodated? The House includes a two-car garage. The driveway can easily fit four full-size cars. Probably more.

How close are the neighbors? There are no other lake-front houses in the area. Just us. A few houses are visible across the road - not many, and most are closed in the off-season. These properties do have lake access rights - so, in the Summer you may catch sight of some of our neighbors through the trees. But, it is not easy to see anyone (or them, you). However, sound does travel.

How many square feet is the house? Approximately 3,600 sq. ft. of living space (not including the storage areas) The house is big.

Is there an outside lawn area? Yes. And a large wrap-around deck at the rear. Beautiful views of the lake.
